Rinkitink in Oz
part 1

It's easy to believe that this was not originally intended to be an Oz story for the matter of the pearls is not very Theosophic. Rather it's more like the coloration of Sky Island

White for truth, in this case good advice, is appropriate for Theosophy, but Blue for strength and Pink for protection is more like blue for boys and pink for girls. If it were Theosophic one would expect pink - Red would be for strength and Yellow would be for protection. Blue would be for command.

Other than that the map directions, such as they are, fit the rotated geocentric Orrery well enough. It states that the Nome kingdom is separated from the Land of Oz by a Deadly Desert on its eastern border, which is Oz east and Nome west. The yellow wedge to the right, on the outer ring in the map below is the Nome kingdom and once again acting as a Yellow prison. And one notices that Baum does not name the Ozish country crossed to get to the Deadly Desert to cross over to Ev.
