Jewish and gentile Ebionite heads of family
must slaughter their own meat. They may not eat a living animal nor the blood
of a dead animal as a blood product. The animals that they kill must not even
suspect that they are going to die and must not die in fear or pain. Each head
of family has their own slaughtering knife which must be razor sharp and they
must be skilled in its use. The body of the slaughtered animal must be treated
with considerable respect. Modes of cooking and usage of byproducts must be respectful.
Unused parts are either cremated or buried ceremoniously. They may not hunt at
all and fish are to be taken with the net or traps only. No hooks. Meat need
not have all blood removed from it, but if it retains blood it must be well
done. No pink showing. The Injunction not to boil a kid in its
mother's milk is interpreted as a respectful cooking instruction of not boiling
a suckling kid. Boiling is for tenderizing tough meat and roasting is for
tender meat. Thus jewish Ebionites can eat cheeseburgers and put yogurt on
their lamb. |
