Awareness of awareness becomes knowledge.
Knowledge of knowledge becomes understanding.
Understanding of understanding becomes paragnosis.
Paragnosis of paragnosis becomes paragnosis. It deepens, broadens and becomes more complex but remains paragnosis.
Paragnosis develops in the order of White Black Colorless
The shift to Oz from the cavern is not a story discontinuity but a paragnostic discontinuity. Not a matter of not having the book space to crawl around on Ozography at all. On her own Dorothy can not get out of the cave, but Ozma is her reflective counterpart. She has the magic picture and the magic belt and can do with Dorothy whatever she wishes. And she wishes what Dorothy wishes.
The transition to an operative paragnostic environment can fail for those who must understand the paragnostic rather than paragnosticing the understanding. As there are three different aspects of Paragnosis, there are three different ways to fail.
The first stage of virtual perception is to view the virtual, heads up point of view, from the real point of view. That is White, I-am-ness, Underlying Structure, Reality.
Second, to view the real point of view from the point of view of the heads up, virtual point of view. That is Black, Love, Causality, Potential, Virtual.
Third, to view both of those from the view point of Recursion, Return. Colorless.
Jim is a real horse. He views the sawhorse as unreal. The resolution by Ozma is that the sawharse is real and Jim is an imitation. Absense of adaption to Reality corresponds to the first stage.
Eureka acts like a cat and becomes imprisoned and wishes to be less constrained and to go someplace where she could enjoy herself better as a cat. Absense of adaption to Love corresponds to the second stage.
Zeb just doesn't feel that he fits in. No one's especially missing him, he just doesn't feel right and he's homesick. Absense of adaption to Recursion / Return corresponds to the third stage.
Each of their viewpoints just won't shift.
