As to name something is to call it, no one in the Valley of Voe is ever liable to say the word for bear, and certainly never ever in the Naming form. Epithets, kennings and the like would be all that is ever said. The word "Art" would only be communicated in writing or otherwise indirectly, as something not to say. That's why you should never say "Devil" or "Hell" or name God for that matter, without good reason. Instant trouble.

Cathair lhios - Caris or in Breton Kerys or City of Ys was a real city off the coast of Bretony. Roman roads still lead into the sea where it used to be. The history / legend concerning its drowning became quite popular in the late 1800s. Folk etymology of the Bretons derived the name of Paris, the new name of Roman Lutetia, from Par-Ys, equal to Ys, Ys being such a wonderful city. Local pride is such a wondrous thing to behold.

Paris is actually the local pronunciation of an old word meaning fortification or walled city, same like Prague, Praga, Praha, Burg, Bereg etc in various other European languages. Lutetia picked up the name as the city became more Frankish than Roman.

The Atlantis of Plato according to one theory was the Nile delta which is just beyond the pillars of Hercules or Shu in Egyptian. Plato seems to have misunderstood the Egyptian pillars of Hercules for the Greek pillars of Hercules which put Atlantis in the Atlantic. Slight misplacement. The delta used to be a thriving north Egyptian kingdom of herders until a local flood - maybe the same wopass volcanic wave that whipped over the Cretans - screwed them over and allowed the southern Egyptians to conquer them and unite the two kingdoms.  All speculation and not that easy to reconcile the timelines of course since there's about a thousand years between them, but hey, what's a thousand years when you have a wowser (spelled mhamhser) of a theory.
